New Book "Unruly" Encourages Readers to Find the Space Between the Rules

A business and life manual for breakout success

TAMPA, Fla., June 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Lauren Wittenberg Weiner, PhD, former CEO and government contracting executive turned speaker and business therapist, is releasing her first book, "Unruly: Deconstruct the Rules, Defy the Norms, and Define Your Success" on July 1, 2025.

Unruly serves as a how-to guide for those who are looking to achieve breakout success without ever breaking the rules.

Drawing from her unique experience as a former policy analyst in the White House (through two different Presidential administrations) to becoming an entrepreneur with her own government contracting firm, Wittenberg Weiner's book serves as a manual and how-to guide for those who are looking to achieve breakout success without ever breaking the rules.

When told she wasn't allowed to apply for senior-level federal jobs after she followed her spouse on an overseas military assignment, Wittenberg Weiner launched her company for herself and the other military spouses on base who had plenty of talent and skills to offer.

Over two decades, Wittenberg Weiner scaled her business to 350+ employees and $100m+ in annual revenue. Her company also secured a $200m contract, the largest contract awarded to a woman-owned small business in Special Operations Command Headquarters history.

"Whenever anyone told us we couldn't do something, we'd find a way to effectively – and legally – prove them wrong," says Wittenberg Weiner about the growth of her firm. "The four words that fueled more of our success than any others were: 'Oh really? Watch me!"

Wittenberg Weiner's book aims to show leaders and business owners how to replicate her success by getting "unruly." Adhering to strict rule-following, Unruly can be addressed in three simple steps:
1)  Know the rules.
2)  Find the space within the rules.
3)  Change the rules when they're not working for you or others.

"Right now we're living through an era where rule-following seems optional, and rule breakers don't seem to face any consequences for their bad behavior. But it is possible to follow the rules without being unduly hindered by them, and to find your own path to success within the rules," says Wittenberg Weiner.

Unruly is a call to truly understand the rules so we can identify the space within those rules. Where we can distinguish ourselves, live authentically and come to our own version of success with work/life equilibrium at various points throughout our journey.

"I wrote Unruly to serve as a toolkit and guidebook for people as they navigate the different stages of their personal and professional lives," says Wittenberg Weiner. "Being Unruly allows us to find our own authentic paths to our own version of success; and to make the pivots necessary as life changes course," says Wittenberg Weiner.

"Unruly: Deconstruct the Rules, Defy the Norms, and Define Your Success" is currently available for pre-order and will be available widely wherever books are sold on July 1, 2025.
